Empowering women in science: Pioneers and achievements at Biosphere 2
These are the women driving Biosphere 2's scientific success
Biosphere 2 is a research facility located just north of Tucson, AZ that was designed to study the interactions between living organisms and their environment. It consists of several enclosed biomes, including a rainforest, ocean, and desert, where researchers can conduct experiments in a controlled environment.
It is essential to acknowledge the role that women have played in advancing scientific research at Biosphere 2 and in science as a whole. We want to take the opportunity during Women's History Month to discuss the challenges women have faced working in this field and how they overcome those obstacles to excel in their field. It is also a great opportunity to highlight the all-women Ocean Biome research team at Biosphere 2, including our recent graduate, Lia Crocker (BS 2020, MS 2021). Check out some of the work they have been doing on the Biosphere 2 Ocean Reef Lab website.
